Drumstick Dash 🍗 

The Drumstick Dash is an annual 5K run and family walk on Thanksgiving Morning in support of the Roanoke Rescue Mission. Meals are provided to adults and children, offering needed nutrition so each guest can focus on rising out of poverty.

The race attracts thousands of people. If you’re going downtown on Thanksgiving day, please review the street closures and plan accordingly.

It isn’t too late to register! Sign up to support the cause this Thanksgiving.

We’re Lighting Up Downtown 💡 

The first night of Delta Dental Dickens of a Christmas kicks off with the City of Roanoke Christmas Tree Lighting on Friday, December 6th. The ceremony begins at 5:30pm with the tree lighting at 6:20pm and will include live stage performances. Join us at the Radford University Carilion stage on Salem Avenue in the Plaza behind the Market Building to watch the magical moment when the tree lights up!

Prepare for Small Business Saturday 🛍️

Small Business Saturday is THIS SATURDAY, November 30th from 10am - 6pm at various businesses throughout downtown, and you’re invited to participate! This event is perfect for clearing out last season’s products and encouraging local shopping for the holidays. As an added incentive, DRI is hosting a kick-off event in Market Square at 10am with free coffee and swag.

Dive into the holiday spirit at VMT's Deck The Rails! Explore more than 15 beautiful Christmas tree displays from our amazing local community. The event begins today and runs through January 2nd.

Fashions for Evergreens

Celebrate the season, assist neighbors in need, and build a better community. Fashions for Evergreens is free and open to the public from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day. Families come together to snap cheerful photos and vote (with dollars!) for their favorite dazzling tree. Hosted by Hotel Roanoke, the event benefits the United Way of Roanoke Valley!
