The holidays are quickly approaching! Are you ready for Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday, Black Friday, and Christmas? Our office is buzzing with excitement as we plan our upcoming events.

Today’s Top Three:

  • Tomorrow, the Roanoke Police Department is hosting a Residential Meeting to discuss safety.

  • Don’t forget to register for Small Business Saturday. Restaurants can register, too.

  • Our Holiday Night Market is this Saturday! Enjoy free hot chocolate and kids’ crafts while you shop.

Drumstick Dash 🍗 

The Drumstick Dash is an annual 5K run and family walk on Thanksgiving Morning in support of the Roanoke Rescue Mission. Meals are provided to adults and children, offering needed nutrition so each guest can focus on rising out of poverty.

The race attracts thousands of people. If you’re going downtown on Thanksgiving day, please review the street closures and plan accordingly.

It isn’t too late to register! Sign up to support the cause this Thanksgiving.

Business Feature: Waffle Cone

Have you visited Waffle Cone at 1 Campbell Ave SW? The sweets shop is nestled in the heart of downtown and is owned and operated by the same family as Cello Coffee House & Cafe.

Try a cup of freshly brewed coffee, a slice of cheesecake, or a piece of baklava. Don’t forget to get a scoop of artisanal ice cream in a delicious waffle cone before you leave.

Small Business Saturday is Saturday, November 30th from 10am - 6pm at various businesses throughout downtown, and you’re invited to participate! This event is perfect for clearing out last season’s products and encouraging local shopping for the holidays.

Women’s Conference

Hurry— Only a few tickets remain for the women’s Conference this Saturday (November 23rd) at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center! This conference is dedicated to providing a venue for Virginia women of all ages to meet, network, hear from experts on a variety of important topics, and gather resources from federal, state, and local agencies.

This event is free to all participants but registration is required as space is limited! This year, the conference asks attendees to participate in the Thanksgiving Food Drive.

  • Straight Street Youth Night on Friday, 11/22 & Saturday, 11/23 from 4pm - 11pm

    Closure: Luck Ave between 3rd St and 4th St

  • Jefferson Center Closure on Wednesday, 11/20 & Saturday, 11/23

    Closure: 6th St SW between the loading dock and Campbell Ave

  • Holiday Night Market on Saturday, 11/23 on Market St
