What a weekend in Downtown Roanoke! St. Patrick’s Day brought a vibrant wave of energy through the district—packed sidewalks, lively crowds, and a festive spirit that set the tone for the season ahead. As we all catch our breath, we want to extend a big thank‑you to our Downtown Roanoke Ambassadors for keeping the area clean, safe, and welcoming throughout the celebrations.
With warmer weather settling in, we’re already seeing foot traffic pick up, and we expect that momentum to continue as spring events and visitors return to the city.
Save the Date: Our next Retail & Restaurant Meeting will be held on April 8, with two session options—8:30 AM or 3:30 PM.

Upcoming Downtown Construction
& Detour Information
The 1st Street and Salem Avenue Drainage Project continues to move forward. Salem Avenue has reopened with temporary paving, with final paving scheduled for completion this summer. First Street remains closed for the time being but is expected to reopen soon. We appreciate the community’s patience during construction. Updates will continue to be shared on the Roanoke Stormwater website and on Instagram and Facebook.
The Kirk Avenue stormwater project (between Jefferson and Market) is anticipated to begin in early April at the soonest. As part of this work, a temporary loading zone will be marked on Kirk Avenue on the east side of Market Street SE, near Ladles & Linens. This signage and marking will be handled by the contractor as outlined in the traffic control plan.
